Liberal Arts

Students majoring in English may pursue the degree through the Liberal Arts program. The Liberal Arts program provides the traditional course of study in literature and language arts. It introduces students to their literary and linguistic heritage and acquaints them with a variety of genres, periods, themes, critical approaches, and individual writers ranging from ancient to modern.

Course requirements for the English / Liberal Arts major can be found in the official FMU academic catalog.

Note: The department’s course offerings and requirements for majors/minors will change beginning with the Fall 2014 semester. The 2014–15 academic catalog reflects this changes. See the Courses page of the English Studies website for more information about the new curriculum and to preview the department’s course offerings for the Fall semester.
