What is English 112?
The second course in the sequence introduces more complicated knowledge about the relationship between rhetorical knowledge and discourse communities. Furthermore, students learn to analyze and create academic arguments and engage in research, thus building knowledge of subject matter and genre. Read more about the course objectives.
In English 112, students will acquire and develop the ability to:
- Create reasoned and well-supported arguments for specific audiences
- Read and analyze arguments with an awareness of rhetorical situations,
persuasive strategies, and their potential consequences
- Use multiple methods to find and evaluate information and ideas from a variety
- Document sources appropriately
After successfully completing English 112 with a grade of “C” or higher, students will enroll in English 200.
